What is Yin Yoga?

Yin yoga is a slow and simple style of yoga. In this practice, you do only a few poses and you hold them for a long time. When we say a long time, we mean between one to five minutes, or sometimes even more. The main goal is not to stretch your muscles. Instead, the focus is on your deep connective tissues, like your ligaments and fascia. These are the parts that wrap around your joints and hold your bones together. Unlike other active yoga styles, in Yin you let your muscles relax completely. You find a shape with your body that feels like a "first feel" of a stretch—not too strong, but you can definitely feel it. Then you get still and just breathe. You stay in the pose, even if your mind gets bored or your body feels a little uncomfortable. The magic of Yin is in this stillness. It teaches you to be calm and patient. It helps you learn to sit with your feelings without running away from them. It is like meditation for your body. By gently stressing your joints, you make them stronger and more mobile. It is a quiet and powerful practice that helps you find peace, both in your body and your mind.

Reviews - Bali Yoga Retreats

Considering travelling to Bali for a Yoga Teacher Training?

The Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Bali was a profoundly healing experience. The slower, meditative pace of yin practice allowed me to explore my body and mind in ways I never had before. The teachers guided us through fascia anatomy, meridian theory, and deep mindfulness techniques with such clarity and care. The peaceful environment of the retreat, surrounded by lush greenery, complemented the inward journey beautifully. I feel equipped and inspired to share yin yoga's transformative power.

Laura Bennett

Completing the Yin Yoga TTC at Bali Yoga Retreats has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. The course brilliantly combines traditional Chinese meridian philosophy with modern anatomy and yin principles. Our teachers held a nurturing space for deep personal reflection and growth. The long-hold postures and yoga nidra sessions were particularly powerful. I left Bali with not just teacher certification but a completely new perspective on stillness, patience, and listening to the body.

Thomas Gruber

This Yin Yoga training was exactly what I needed. The gentle yet profound nature of yin practice surprised me with how deeply it affects both body and mind. The comprehensive curriculum covered TCM theory, target areas, and sequencing in a very accessible way. Our instructors modeled a beautiful blend of expertise and humility. Practicing yoga in Bali's serene surroundings, surrounded by a caring community, made every session feel sacred. I'm returning home with newfound confidence to teach.

Fatima Al-Hassan

I joined the Yin Yoga Teacher Training expecting physical training, but received a complete transformation. The emphasis on stillness, mindful breathing, and working with connective tissue changed how I relate to my body entirely. The philosophy teachings were deeply insightful, and the teaching methodology sessions were practical and empowering. The retreat center's atmosphere, the delicious plant-based food, and the warmth of teachers and fellow students created an unforgettable experience.
