How He Came To The Mat

Ashutosh Mishra Ji was around yoga from a young age, and it was actually his father who enrolled him at the University of Patanjali. He spent three years there and came out with a Bachelor’s in Yogic Science, then went on to do a Master’s in Yoga Therapy at Uttarakhand Sanskrit University.

From Study To Teaching

Once he finished studying, he decided teaching was the way he wanted to help people, especially those genuinely struggling and looking for some relief through yoga. He started off doing karma yoga at the ashram, helping new students, local and international, settle into ashram life. From there he moved into teaching both therapeutic classes and full teacher training students, and he still makes a point of sitting in on other teachers’ sessions whenever he gets the chance, just to keep learning.

How He Teaches

His classes mix careful sequencing with a strong focus on alignment, and he tends to adjust things based on the student in front of him rather than running everyone through the same routine. That’s what people at Bali Yoga Retreats usually mention first, that his classes feel built around them, not off a template. He’s also known for constantly trying to get better at what he does, which is part of why other teachers rate him so highly too.
