Vedic Philosophy · Hindu Dharma University, Bali
Two years at a Balinese master’s ashram and a Yoga and Health degree shape his plain-spoken teaching of Vedic philosophy and number meditation.
Azmi met a Balinese spiritual master in 2012, and that meeting is really where his interest in yoga philosophy started. He ended up living at the master’s ashram for two years, studying Vedic philosophy in a slow, hands-on way rather than through a quick course. It was here that he also learned number meditation, which he still uses in his own practice.
After the ashram, he studied Yoga and Health at Hindu Dharma University in Bali and later completed a few Yoga Alliance teacher trainings on top of that. So his teaching comes from two places at once, the years he spent learning directly under a teacher, and the formal study he did afterward.
At Bali Yoga Retreats, his classes lean more into the thinking behind yoga than the physical side of it. He tends to explain ideas in plain terms and ties them back to things students are already dealing with in their own lives, so philosophy doesn’t feel like something separate from the rest of the course.
