Course overview
'Ayurveda' is a Sanskrit term meaning the science of ancient medicine and healing, developed over 5,000
years ago in India — literally, 'knowledge of life.' Its main principle is healing through general
wellness and natural health.
Contemporary yogis have started blending Ayurvedic wisdom with yoga and meditation to produce changes in
physical, emotional and psychological health. This unique approach is now shared globally through yoga
and Ayurveda teacher training programs.
This combination of Ayurveda and yoga is often called 'AyurYoga.' It applies the healing principles of
Ayurvedic science to yoga asanas, and is steadily emerging as one of the most essential ways of inducing
relaxation to the body and mind — treating the emotional and physical complications associated with
different yoga postures.
This 5,000-year-old practice remains relevant today because it continues to be effective for a range of
physical conditions. Ayurveda and yoga have grown up side by side for centuries and are often called
'sister sciences.'
Participants gain clear concepts about the tridoshas — Vata, Pitta and Kapha — to understand their own
body type and characteristics, guided by a team of experienced AyurYoga teachers. The primary objective
is understanding the needs of different body types, which also has practical benefits for work
performance and social skills: understanding differences in mind-body constitution helps you work with
others more effectively.
